You're probably looking at this picture, thinking "what on earth would make you think that I have a sailboat!? I thought this site was to help people who don't have money. Well, that's where the beauty of creativity in wedding planning kicks in. Think about the 100-150 people or so that are going to be invited to your wedding. I'm sure that some of those family and friends have some very valuable talents or items that can be used for your wedding.

The sailboat in this picture belongs to my godparents and there is nothing more in the world that they wanted than to take me and my new husband to the reception on their boat. I think they were more excited about it than I was! Then, my husband's little cousins Irish danced for us as their gift. It was so special and it really kept the guests entertained in such a unique way that no hired professional could have pulled off.

Think about all of the amazing things that the people in your life have to offer and how you can add that personal touch to your wedding by asking them to take part. It really doesn't even have to be anything extravagant. Most people know someone who is a great singer or musician- ask them to perform something for your ceremony or reception. You might also have an artistic friend who can offer great ideas for favors and decorations that won't break the bank.

Also, think about items that you or your family already have lying around the house. Between 5 or 6 people, you probably have enough vases to cover all your tables for centerpieces. A newer trend in wedding centerpieces is to vary the height and shape of the vases you use for each table so that they're all a bit unique. So, if everyone has a different style vase, that's great. You can also use ceremony decor such as floral arrangements and bouquets to be transported to the reception. No point in wasting those perfectly good flowers and centerpieces. Think outside of the box and reduce, re-use, recycle as much as you can.
